Why is My Tablet So Slow: 7 Easy Steps How to Fix It?

Why is my tablet so slow? Can it be fixed? You can fix your tablet if you follow a few simple steps. Read on to learn the most common reasons why tablets slow down and how to fix them.

Sometimes a sudden drop in performance or increased difficulty using the device can result from an app gone awry or one that isn’t compatible with your operating system.

Tablets are gadgets designed to make peoples’ lives easier and more fun. People enjoy going on their tablets to play games, watch movies, browse the web, or read books.

However, sometimes these devices can become sluggish or unresponsive due to several issues that can be fixed easily at home by following simple troubleshooting steps.

Why is My Tablet So Slow?

  1. Outdated Software
  2. Lack of Storage Space
  3. Hardware Problems
  4. Continuous Running of the Tab
  5. Virus or Malware Infection
  6. Clear Unnecessary Cache Files

Outdated Software

If the device has outdated software, it may run slow or begin to experience glitches.  Software updates are available for most tablets and can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website.

Lack of Storage Space

Tablets can also become sluggish due to a lack of storage space. If the tablet does not have enough free space, it cannot run properly and therefore is unable to perform tasks at a high level of efficiency.

This is because you cannot access the tablet’s internal memory or RAM. Running full-speed applications takes up much memory; if you do not have enough free space, the tablet runs slower.

Hardware Problems

Another reason why your tablet can become sluggish could be due to a hardware problem. If the device has fitful behavior, it might make a clicking noise, have problems responding to touch commands, or become unresponsive.

Continuous Running of the Tab

Have you forgotten to turn off your device at night? Sometimes you can impact a tablet’s performance if it has been running continuously for a long period, which is especially true for new models still under warranty.

Virus or Malware Infection

One last reason why a tablet might be slow is due to a virus or malware infection. If you are using a computer, it is possible that you may have been infected with malware that scans your device for Spyware and viruses to download onto it.

You can see more information about Spyware on the How to Protect Yourself Against Spyware blog. A virus or malware infection is also a good reason your tablet might slow down.

Of course, there may be other reasons your tablet becomes sluggish such as battery power issues or problems with the operating system. Should you experience any of these issues, try the steps below to see if they help.

How to Fix a slow tablet

How can I make my tablet run faster?

Making your tablet faster is not all that difficult. However, having a tablet that takes longer to complete tasks can be frustrating. The following is a list of troubleshooting steps you can try at home to see if they help.

  1. Make sure you have the right drivers
  2. Launch the Task Manage
  3. Stop Background Tasks
  4. Restart The Device
  5. Remove Unwanted Apps and Programs
  6. Use A Task Killer App or Clean Master App
  7. Update the Operating System/Software
  8. Clear Unnecessary Cache Files

Make sure you have the right drivers

Make sure you have the right recommended drivers by the manufacturer. You can do this by making sure that your drivers are downloaded from the tablet manufacturer’s website or CD. Most manufacturers like Huion or GAOMON, provide a page for drivers to download on their official websites.

The installation process is easy and straightforward. Here is an example of How to install Huion Drivers. We have also done GAOMON drivers installation.

Launch the Task Manage

To start the task manager, follow this path:  Settings > Apps > Running. You can kill any unnecessary processes that might make your tablet slow down. However, be careful not to delete a necessary process. If there is an app or program that you don’t see listed in your list of running processes and you believe it should be there, restart the tablet and check the Task Manager again.

Stop Background Tasks

Another thing you can do is to stop background tasks that are running in the background. Although you can be sure that the device needs all the energy it can get, sometimes it is important to shut down background tasks.

Closing these processes will give you more memory to run more applications and games. So instead of killing everything, try to close unnecessary background processes by following this path:  Settings > Data Usage > Running Services > Background data.

Restart The Device

Have you lost track of which apps are running on the tablet? Are they either taking too many resources or not running at all? If your tablet is stalling, you can try restarting it. Restarting the device can also eliminate software glitches that might slow it down. If your tablet becomes slow, try turning it off and rebooting it by following this path:  Power > Reboot.

Remove Unwanted Apps and Programs

If there are apps that you don’t use, remove them immediately. Be careful when removing unnecessary programs because if you remove a necessary program, you may not be able to access certain features on your device. Once you have removed the unnecessary apps, check to see if the tablet runs faster. If it doesn’t, try uninstalling other apps you don’t use.

Use A Task Killer App or Clean Master App

Another way to speed up your tablet is using a task killer app or clean master app that allows you to simultaneously kill all the running processes. We don’t recommend this option because sometimes task killers can damage your device and/or tablet.

Clear Unnecessary Cache Files

Clearing unnecessary cache files is another way to speed up your Android device. To clear cache files, follow this easy step:  Settings > Applications > Manage applications. Navigate to the Manage Applications section of the settings and find an application you haven’t used in a while. Tap it and then tap Clear Cache to remove the unnecessary app cache.

If you use your tablet regularly, clearing unnecessary cache files will help speed up your device by freeing up memory.

Update the Operating System/Software

Check if a major software or operating system update is available for your tablet. Software and operating system updates can improve the device’s performance by eliminating glitches and bugs that may slow it down.
