If you do not want to use the hyphen the automatic hyphenation option can be bothersome for beginners.
Hyphenation can disrupt the visual flow of text and may not always be desired for certain design projects. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to turn off hyphenation in Illustrator.
How to Find Paragraph Panel in Adobe Illustrator
In some Illustrator versions, the paragraph options appear on the top menu immediately after you create a text box. Click on the paragraph to bring up the menu.
If it does not, you can go to Window>Type>Paragraph a pop-up window appears with paragraph options. To add or remove hyphens, select your text and toggle on or off. You can also go to the same menu by clicking the Command + Option + T shortcut.
Steps to Turn Off Hyphenation in Adobe Illustrator
Follow these simple steps to disable hyphenation for your text in Adobe Illustrator:
Step 1 – Select the Text-Open your Adobe Illustrator document and select the text box containing the text you want to modify.
Step 2 – Access the Paragraph Panel using any of the methods we have highlighted at the start of this article.
Just to recap, With the text box selected, go to the “Window” menu and choose “Type” to reveal a dropdown menu. From the dropdown menu, select “Paragraph” to open the Paragraph panel.
Step 3 – Disable Hyphenation – In the Paragraph panel, you will see a small icon that represents hyphenation. It looks like a box with a single line of text and a hyphen. To turn off hyphenation, simply click on this icon.
When the hyphenation feature is disabled, the icon will appear as a plain box without the hyphenation symbol.
Hyphenation can be a useful feature in Adobe Illustrator, but it might not always suit every design project.

Can I disable hyphenation for specific parts of the text only?
Yes, you can. When you disable hyphenation in the Paragraph panel, it applies to the entire text box.
However, if you want to disable hyphenation for specific words or phrases, you can manually add non-breaking spaces between the words you wish to keep together.
How can I enable hyphenation again if needed?
If you decide to re-enable hyphenation for a particular text box, follow the same steps as before to access the Paragraph panel. Click on the icon that represents hyphenation to toggle it back on.
Does disabling hyphenation affect text justification?
