How to Copy and Paste in Adobe illustrator

To copy and paste an object or group of objects in Illustrator, follow these steps:

  1. Select the object or group of objects that you want to copy.
  2. Press “Command+C” on a Mac or “Control+C” on a PC to copy the selected objects.
  3. Press “Command+V” on a Mac or “Control+V” on a PC to paste the copied objects.
  4. The pasted objects will appear in the same position as the original objects and can be moved or transformed as desired.

How to copy and paste from the Edit menu

  1. Select the object or group of objects that you want to copy.
  2. Go to Edit > Copy
  3. Go to Edit > Paste

How to paste in place in illustrator

When you follow the above steps the object is pasted but not in the exact position as the original. To date the object exactly on top of the original one, follow the below steps.

  1. Select the object you want to duplicate
  2. Press Control>C or Command>C on a MAC
  3. Then, Press Control>F or Command>F on a MAC

The object will be pasted exactly on the original one.

When working in illustrator you can also copy-paste by clicking on the object and dragging it as if you are moving it while holding down the ALT key.
