Apple iPad Pro M2 – Best overall tablet for streaming

The latest Apple iPad Pro is by far one of the best tablets made so far in terms of power and performance.

The powerful M2 processor , and 8 to 16 GB of RAM are capable of running faster than many high end laptops without lags.

You have 2 size variations that is the large 12.9 inch and the 11 inch option both which come with a fast and reliable iPadOS 16 processor.

The 11 inch screen comes with 2388 x 1668 pixels LCD resolution that is crisp and clear. The larger 12.9 inch screen is even better in resolution with 2732 x 2048 pixels and unique Liquid Retina technology unique to the iPad Pro.

If you are looking for a tablet that will easily replace your laptop, then this is it. You however have to take a step and combine the 13 inch iPad Pro to the Apple Magic Keyboard to get a perfect 13 inch laptop.

When combined, the touch pad is perfectly positioned and the ergonomic keyboard raised slightly for comfortable typing.

For the smaller 11 inch iPad, you will have to use the same size Magic keyboard which might not fit so well.

8 GB and 16 GB RAM alternatives provide a wide range to choose from depending on how you intend to use it. You will have a choice to use the new 5G connectivity plus 128 GB to 2TB option storage space to save your files.

From our earlier iPad reviews, it is evident pen compatibility is a key point of concern. However, both of these tablets will work with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil 2 without issues.

Pros

  • Powerful Processor and RAM
  • Great Display
  • Large Storage space

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Both Pencil and Magic Keyboard come separately

Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra – Best Android tablet for streaming

If you prefer an Android device instead, few can match up to the iPad Pro. In recent years however, one Android tablet has come to be the closest Android iPad alternative.

From the Samsung S8 series, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra is the Best Android tablet with a keyboard. Although it is cheaper than the iPad Pro, this tablet is also considered a premium level tablet and will not come cheap.

When it comes to performance, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra is the  best Android tablet you can buy and is the only one that can serve as a capable iPad alternative.

First the screen is larger than the iPad at 14.6 inches in size but is lower in resolution at 1848 x 2960 Pixels. It is however still good enough for photo editing.

8 to 16 GB RAM and a Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1processor make it possible to easily run photo editing software. For storage and software installation, you will have a variety to choose from with the largest being 512 GB.

This large but slim tablet is definitely worth the price and you will enjoy using it for multiple tasks. You will be able to use it outside the office without having to reconnect to your power source for up to 14 hours.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro – Best Budget

If you are a beginner, we recommend the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro. This is another fairly priced Android Tablet. Although it is not as good as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra, you will still get a good 12.9 inches as large as the iPad Pro.

The resolution is better than the S8 Ultra with 2560*1600 pixels resolution which is perfect.

For most drawing tablets 8192 pen pressure sensitivity is ideal. Processing power is also good enough for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 Octa-core delivering a fast 3.2 GHz.

Combined with a 6 GB resolution, the tablet will not lag even if you multi-task it. You will not only be able to run simple software

but even more powerful software such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9: Best Windows Tablet for Video Editing

  1. Screen size: 13-inch
  2. Resolution: 2,880 x 1,920
  3. Processor: Intel Core i7
  4. RAM: 8 GB to 32 GB options
  5. Storage Space: 128 GB-1TB

If you are not on a budget, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is the best 2-in-1 tablet/laptop alternative. It is very much like the iPad Pro, with a 13-inch screen size and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

This screen is perfect for many professional tasks, including as animation tablets, video editing and many more. This is made possible by not only the size but also the high 2880×1920 pixels resolution and 450 nits brightness.

This is half of the brightness on the iPad Pro. You will barely notice the difference in dim or low-light areas. However, the iPad Pro will be more clear and visible in high-light conditions.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is a premium tablet for professional tasks. It features a powerful Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 and 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB of RAM, depending on your budget.

The Intel Core i7 is the most powerful option, and when combined with 32 GB of RAM, it becomes a powerful processing powerhouse for any task.

When connected and tilted to a landscape orientation, you can use it just like you would a laptop, but with a touch screen.

Storage space is good enough for software installation and file saving with 256 GB and 512 GB options. You can expand it to 1 TB using a MicroSD card.

Just like the Chuwi, this tablet is a good tablet/laptop alternative and is compatible with a detachable 2-in-1 keyboard and stylus pen.

Unfortunately, you have to buy the accessories separately.

Apple iPad Air: Best Value for money

  1. Operating System: iPad OS 14.1
  2. Screen Size: 10.9 inches
  3. Resolution: 2160 x 2360 pixels
  4. CPU: Hexa-core
  5. RAM: 4 GB
  6. Storage Options: 64 GB, 256 GB

Before Apple announced the 2022 iPad Air, people were talking about rumors. They thought the new iPad Air wouldn’t have the same chip as the iPad Mini and iPhone 13, called A15 Bionic.

Instead, they thought it would have a stronger chip called M1, which is in more expensive Macs and iPad Pro models.

Initially, these rumors were met with skepticism, given the already strong similarities between the iPad Air and the 11-inch iPad Pro.

However, Apple ultimately confirmed the rumors and unveiled the new iPad Air featuring the M1 chip. Alongside this significant upgrade, other improvements were introduced, such as an improved front-facing camera and 5G connectivity.

Despite the external resemblance to the prior model, the new iPad Air stood out due to the inclusion of the M1 chip, making it one of the most future-proof iPads available.

The tablet’s design remained mostly unchanged, retaining the Touch ID feature within the top button. The display, although comparable to the prior iPad Air’s, continued to offer a high-quality 10.9-inch Liquid Retina LCD screen with True Tone technology.

While the 120Hz refresh rate of the 11-inch iPad Pro’s display was absent, most users found the difference in real-world usage to be minimal.

The new iPad Air maintained the same back camera as its predecessor, which was suitable for basic photography and niche applications like document scanning and augmented reality.

The tablet was compatible with the previous generation’s accessories, including keyboard cases and the second-generation Apple Pencil.

The real standout feature was the integration of the M1 chip, which significantly boosted the iPad Air’s processing power. Benchmarks showcased the M1’s superiority even over previous iPad Pro models.

This meant that the iPad Air could handle a wide array of tasks efficiently, from web browsing and email to photo editing and gaming.

The battery life was also excellent, living up to Apple’s claims of around 10 hours and often exceeding that duration, even during more demanding activities.

Other enhancements included an upgraded front camera that supported Center Stage and optional 5G connectivity.

While these additions were logical and forward-looking, they did not drastically alter the user experience for most.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite – Best Value

  • Screen Size; 10.4 inches
  • Stylus; S Pen
  • Pen pressure; 4096
  • Screen resolution; 2000 by 1200 pixels
  • Screen technologies; AMOLED screen
  • Processor; Exynos 9611 octa-core
  • RAM; 4 GB
  • Storage; 64GB / 128 GB Expandable to 1 TB

Samsung has been a trusted brand for many years. It is no wonder they start us off on this list. With the Samsung Galaxy S6 lite, you will get most of the great features in Samsung’s more expensive tablets for a fraction of the price.

For example, you will still get the great S Pen found in S7 Plus and S8 on the S6 lite. The AMOLED screen is also available on the S6 lite.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite comes with a 10.4-inch screen size of 1200 x 2000 pixels and a 5:3 Aspect ratio. The screen size is one key factor that can influence the choice of an art tablet.

Although a bigger tablet is preferable, 10.4 inches is still good and usable not to mention it is only a few inches smaller than the more expensive 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro.

The tablet’s display is crisp and clear and will show vivid colors thanks to the AMOLED screen display which is way better than a traditional LCD display. You will find this type of screen only on more expensive Samsung tablets so it is a big plus in this price range.

Another thing found on this tablet that you can only get on premium Samsung tablets is a great S Pen. The Samsung S Pen borrows a lot from Wacom’s Pen 2 which is an art industry standard pen.

The Pen has 4096 Pen pressure levels which are good but unfortunately is not battery-free.

The tablet comes with a large storage space where you will store your Apps and files. You can get 64 GB space and a larger 128 GB option.

The processing speed is determined by the RAM and processor. The tablet scores well in both areas. It comes with Samsung’s Exynos 9611 octa-core processor and 4 GB RAM. This means that the tablet will run programs fast and efficiently even when multitasking.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A: cheap tablet for watching movies

  1. Screen Size 10.1 inches
  2. Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 pixels Full HD
  3. Processor: ‎Quad Core Processor
  4. RAM  2 GB
  5. Operating System: Android Pie 9
  6. Battery Life:  13 hours
  7. Storage Space:  32 GB expandable up to 512 GB using a Micro SD Card
  8. Connectivity WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS

If you are looking for a cheap standalone tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab A is your best pick. It features a large 10 inch screen with Full HD resolution. Unfortunately, the screen is not AMOLED.

There is however a smaller 8 inch version but we recommend the 10 inch option for the best experience. Like many Samsung tablets, the storage space is low but expandable up to 512 GB. This is ok but 1 TB storage would have been better.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a sturdy Aluminum body with a sleek thickness. Additionally you will have up to 13 hours of battery life which is perfect. You will use the older Android Pie OS but its okay since you do not have to connect to a computer to use.

What makes this tablet great is the easy compatibility to Samsung S Pen using Bluetooth or a wired connection. Unfortunately, if you need a gaming or video editing tablet, the low 2 GB RAM will heavily limit the Samsung Galaxy Tab A. For such complex tasks we recommend 8 GB RAM and above.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A

Pros

  • Compatible with S Pen
  • Long batter life
  • 8 and 10 inch varieties
  • Expandable storage
  • Sturdy Aluminum build with a slim finish

Cons
